Dallas Cowboys Routed by Atlanta Falcons as Elliot Forced to Watch from Sideline

This past Sunday the Dallas Cowboys traveled to Atlanta to take on the Atlanta Falcons.  It was the first game of Ezekiel Elliott's six game suspension and the Cowboys paid for it as they were handed a 27-7 loss. Dallas was having to deal with not having starting  running back Elliot, linebacker Sean Lee, kicker Dan Bailey, and offensive lineman Tyron Smith.  Dak Prescott felt Elliot and Smith's absence as they could not balance their offense and he was sacked eight times.  This loss dropped the Cowboys to (5-4) on the season and now are chasing the wild card spot as they are now three games back of the Philadelphia Eagles.  The Falcons on the other hand raise to (5-4) and are in the wild card hunt as well.  The key players of the game were 1) Adrian Clayborn (ATL DL) who had six sacks which set a franchise record, 2) Tevin Coleman (ATL RB) who had 83 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and 3) Jason Witten (DAL TE) who had seven receptions for 59 yards. ...

Cowboys Host Chiefs After Elliot Suspension Shake Up

Sunday afternoon the Dallas Cowboys hosted the Kansas City Chiefs in Arlington.  Ezekiel Elliot who was set to start his six game suspension this week, was granted a administrative stay Friday that would allow him to play temporarily. Dak Prescott still managed to steal the show as he led the Cowboys as they compiled 375 yards of offense on their way to a 28-17 victory.  The key players of the game were 1) Dak Prescott (DAL RB) who threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns along with a rushing touchdown, 2) Ezekiel Elliot (DAL RB) who rushed for 93 yards a touchdown and averaged over three yards a carry to help balance the Dallas offense,  and 3) Travis Kelce (KC TE) who had seven receptions for 73 yards and a score. With this win Dallas climbs to (5-3) on the season and slides Kansas City down to (6-3).  Dallas will move on to travel to Atlanta next Sunday to take on the Falcons, while the Chiefs will get the week off with their bye.

Houston Texans Lose in Wake of Controversy

The Houston Texans traveled to Seattle to take on the Seahawks Sunday.  The Texans linked arms and kneeled during the national anthem in reaction to their owner Bob McNair's comments about NFL players being inmates running the prison.  The Seahawks would go on to win this contest in a shootout fashion as they won 41-38.  Both teams racked up over 450 yards of offense and scored a combined nine touchdowns.  This game bumped the Texans down to (3-4) on the year while the Seahawks bolstered up to a (5-2) record.  The crucial stats of the game were turnovers,  the Texans had three (two of which the Seahawks scored on) and the Seahawks only had one.  Key players of the game were 1) Russell Wilson (SEA QB) who threw for 452 yards and four touchdowns, 2) DeAndre Hopkins (HOU WR) who compiled eight receptions for 224 yards and a touchdown, and lastly 3) The entire Seahawks defense as they had two touchdowns, two sacks, and forced three turnovers.  The Tex...

Dallas Cowboys Route 49ers

Sunday evening the San Fransisco 49ers hosted the Dallas Cowboys in Levi's Stadium.  The Cowboys dominated this game from start to finish never putting a doubt in this 40-10 win.  This win gave the Cowboys a much needed win propelling them to (3-3) on the year and a nice confidence boost following a rough patch. The 49ers on the other hand drop to a league worst (0-7).  The Cowboys racked up 501 total offensive yards with 265 of it coming on the ground, this was all on their way to scoring six offensive touchdowns.  The key players of the game were 1) Ezekiel Elliott (DAL RB) who compiled 219 total yards and three touchdowns, 2) Dak Prescott (DAL QB) who threw for 234 yards and three touchdowns, and 3)  Dez Bryant who had seven receptions on his way to 63 yards and a touchdown.  The Dallas Cowboys will move on to travel to Maryland to take on the Washington Redskins next Sunday night and the 49ers will travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.

Week 6: New Orleans Saints Fend Off Detroit Lions In Shootout

Sunday evening the New Orleans Saints hosted the Detroit Lions at the Superdome.  Mark Ingram and the Saints fended off the Lions' comeback to win 52-38.  The Saints passed for 186 yards and rushed for another 193 yards on their way to four offensive touchdowns.  Their defense played extremely well scoring two defensive touchdowns and forcing five turnovers.  The Lions didn't have a quiet offensive day as they still managed 347 total yards and scoring three touchdowns of their own but it was not enough to come away with the win, mainly from losing the turnover differential.  The key players of the game were 1) Mark Ingram (New Orleans RB) who rushed for two touchdowns and 114 yards, 2) Drew Brees (New Orleans QB) who threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns, and 3) Golden Tate (Detroit WR) who came away with a touchdown and 96 receiving yards on 7 receptions.  New Orleans moves to (3-2) on the year following the win while Detroit slides to (3-3).  Detroi...

Week 5: Dallas Cowboys vs. Green Bay Packers

Sunday evening the Dallas Cowboys squared off against the Green Bay Packers at home in Arlington. The Cowboys controlled the game through the first half yet again just like last week,  but gave up the lead on the last possession of the game to lose 35-31.  Aaron Rodgers who is known for his late game heroics adds another one to his resume as he threw two fourth quarter touchdowns including one in the final seconds of the game to take the lead.  The Cowboys still had a productive day on offense as they came away with 245 passing yards, 163 rushing yards, and dominated possession time with 35 minutes.  It was the defense that proved to be the weakest link as they squandered the 15 point lead.  The key players were 1) Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay QB) who 221 yards and three touchdowns,  2) Ezekiel Elliot (DAL RB) who rushed for 116 yards on 29 carries, and 3) Aaron Jones (Green Bay RB) who rushed for 125 yards on 19 carries with a touchdown.  This win moves G...

Dallas Cowboys lose heartbreaker to Los Angeles Rams

The Dallas Cowboys hosted the Los Angeles Rams in Arlington this past Sunday night.  It was the tale of two halves as the Cowboys during the first half were up as many as 11.  That all came crashing down as the Rams came storming back with 19 second half points to win 35-34.  This dropped the Cowboys to (2-2) on the year and bumps the Rams to (3-1).  The Cowboys had a good showing on offense compiling 251 passing yards and rushing for another 189 but could not get it done on defense as they let the Rams come away with nine scoring drives.  Key players of this game were Joseph Goff (LA QB) who threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns,  Todd Gurley (LA RB)who had 225 all purpose yards and a touchdown, and Greg Zuerlein (LA K) who made seven field goals on seven attempts.  The Cowboys will move on to face the Green Bay Packers at home next Sunday while the Los Angeles Rams travel back home to host the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday.
